CONSERVATORY of CORFU REGULATION<\/span>

  • The School Year begins on September 1st<\/sup> and ends on June 30th<\/sup> .
    Applications will only be accepted by students\u2019 parents or guardians.<\/p><\/li>

  • \u00a0The Registration Fee\u00a0<\/b>is prepaid at the beginning of the school year along with the student\u2019s registration application. It applies to all students of the Conservatory and is per student and for all courses.<\/p><\/li>

  • In case of interruption of studies, the Registration Fee,\u00a0is non-refundable<\/b>.<\/p><\/li>

  • The tuition fees are annual and are divided into equal instalments, for the convenience of the students.<\/b><\/p><\/li>

  • The tuition fees must be paid within the agreed period, otherwise the student\u2019s attendance shall be suspended.<\/p><\/li>

  • The students are required to pay a special fee (Examination fee) for their participation in qualifying or graduating (degree\/ diploma) examinations.<\/p><\/li>

  • Students must have paid the annual tuition fees<\/b> in order to attend the annual qualifying or graduating examinations.<\/p><\/li>

  • If the student wants to stop his\/ her studies, his\/ her parents must inform the Conservatory Director, from the previous month, otherwise it is considered that their studies continue and the tuition fees are payable.<\/p><\/li>

  • Discontinuation of studies from May 1st<\/sup> until the end of the school year is prohibited.<\/p><\/li>

  • Students are provided with a booklet of Progress by the Conservatory of Corfu, in which there are registered the degrees of diligence – progress – execution of the special course and the compulsory courses, in which he\/ she is examined.<\/p><\/li>

  • The courses that coincide with public holidays set by the Ministry of Culture are not replaced or substituted.<\/p><\/li>

  • The public holidays are:
    \u2013 the 28th<\/sup> of October (Ohi Day)
    \u2013 Christmas Holidays (From December 24th<\/sup> to January 6th<\/sup> )
    – January, 30th<\/sup>
    – Clean Monday
    – March 25th<\/sup> (Independence Day)
    – Easter Holidays (From Holy and Great Thursday to Low Sunday
    – Labour Day (May 1st<\/sup> )
    – Pentecost
    In addition, local holidays are considered the following: December 12th<\/sup> and May 21st<\/sup> .<\/p><\/li>

  • Attendance should be regular. We note that after a number of unjustified absences in accordance with the prescribed limit (article 17 of the Royal Decreed dated 11.11.57 \u201cOn the ratification of the internal regulations of the Conservatory of Thessaloniki\u201d), the students loses the right to be examined and will repeat the class.<\/p><\/li>

  • In case a student is not able to attend a lesson, he\/ she is obliged to notify the conservatory secretariat and his\/ her teacher in advance.<\/p><\/li>

  • Lessons that are missed due to the student\u2019s fault are not replaced, except in serious cases.<\/p><\/li>

  • Parents and students must read the announcements of the Conservatory, in the bulletin board.<\/p><\/li>

  • Parents should be informed by the Principal and the Teachers or professors about the progress of their children, about their absences and discuss any questions or complaints in order to resolve any problems.<\/p><\/li>

  • Finally, students must behave politely and decently to the teaching staff and their classmates, not to make noise in the conservatory because they disturb those who teach and attend classes and keep the premises clean.<\/p><\/li><\/ul>

    Education information<\/b><\/p>

    • The following classes operate in the Conservatory:<\/p><\/li><\/ul>

      \u2013 Advanced Theory and Composition (Special Harmony, Counterpoint, Wind Instrumentation,
      Fugue, Composition)
      \u2013 Piano
      \u2013 Classical Guitar
      \u2013 Strings (Violin, Viola, Cello)
      \u2013 Woodwinds (Bassoon, Clarinet, Flute)
      \u2013 Brass Instruments (Trumpet, Trombone, Tuba)
      \u2013 Choir Conductor
      \u2013 Monody
      \u2013 Modern Song
      \u2013 Electric Guitar
      \u2013 Folklore & Traditional Music, Bouzouki Department<\/p>

      • The classes in all schools recognized by the Ministry of culture are divided into 4 levels (Preparatory- Junior – Intermediate – Senior).<\/p><\/li>

      • \u00a0The students at the beginning of their studies are enrolled in the 1st<\/sup> year of Preparatory class and in order to be considered full-time students with the right to participate in the final exams (degree\/ diploma) they must consistently follow the courses, as specified in the regulation (R.D. 11-11-1957 \/ O.G.G vol. \u0391\u2019 229) and necessarily take part in the annual promotion examinations in accordance with the regulation .<\/p><\/li>

      • \u00a0Students from abroad or from private lessons, may enrol in the Conservatory by participating in Qualifying Examinations held at the Conservatory of Corfu of each year and are classified according to their level.<\/p><\/li>

      • During their studies, the students must continuously attend the compulsory courses that are defined for their department and which are provided free of charge. The temporary omission of one compulsory course is allowed only in exceptional cases and with the permission of the Management and the teacher.<\/p><\/li>

      • \u00a0The special courses in the Conservatory are individual and each student must attend two classes per week or one hour class. The duration of the individual course is 25 minutes for preparatory and lower classes, 30 minutes for intermediate classes and 40 for students of senior classes. Students pending diploma or degree must attend 90 minutes courses per week.<\/p><\/li>
